How Much Does a Control4 Smart Home Cost

A smart home is a connected home and we use Control4 as our smart home platform of choice to make your home come together.

A lot of people ask us how much a smart home will cost and while the costs can vary hugely depending on each customer’s requirements we felt it would be useful for prospective clients to have a budget to work to so when you look to get in touch you have a much better idea of what a bespoke quotation may come to.

It’s important to note that there are costs which we would consider Control4 specific which is what this blog article is designed to cover and then many costs which are specific to smart homes but not just because you’ve chosen to install a Control4 automation system to control it.

When thinking about smart home, it’s important to consider all eventualities even if you can’t afford to fit the equipment initially. That’s why we are huge fans of pre-wiring homes for the future. If you have a wire you have an option, no wires means no options (or at the very least a big bill to retro fit them).
Afterall the most expensive cable is the one you don’t put in!

When designing a smart home there are lots of other costs to consider, many of which are not Control4 specific and thus not covered in this guide. However, we would look to cost these up as part of a bespoke package of works.

Further down this page, you’ll see what we would consider the Control4 specific costs to equipment various size homes with a Control4 smart home system.

Where we have outlined lighting costs we are working on the basis that you’d have a hybrid lighting system. This means that key rooms would have smart lighting and low-priority rooms would have traditional lighting.

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT** but exclude the cost of installation, configuration and the costs of anything outlined above which are not Control4 specific but can be required to complete the installation.

** you might be able to take between 5 and 20% off some elements quoted if your home is a large-scale renovation or new build.
