CCTV & Smart Security Installation in Shropshire
We design and install CCTV and smart security systems across Shropshire, Cheshire and the West Midlands, integrated with the Control4 smart home systems we're known for: cameras, doorbells, alarms and locks you can check and control from anywhere.
A Bag of Cheap Cameras Isn’t a Security System
If a DIY camera kit genuinely covers what you need, buy the kit. We mean that. Where professional CCTV earns its keep is everything the box doesn’t mention: cameras positioned to identify faces and number plates rather than silhouettes, recording that keeps working when the internet drops, and a system tied into your lighting and alarm so the house responds rather than just watches. We’re straight about the limits too: cameras deter and record; they don’t replace good locks.
Do You Have a Project We Can Help With?
Get a QuotationReal Peace of Mind, Done Properly
A well-designed security system does more than record footage. Discreet internal and external cameras with a network video recorder let you monitor your home continuously. You get a high-definition colour feed by day and, with infrared, a clear picture at night. You can check any camera from a TV screen, a touchscreen or your phone, wherever you are.
Installed discreetly, set up properly and supported afterwards. We've been designing and installing this kind of system from our Shrewsbury base since 2006, and you can see it working in our Control4 Certified Showroom before you decide anything.

Security That's Part of Your Smart Home
Most CCTV installers fit cameras and leave you with yet another app. Because we're a Control4 Certified Showroom, we integrate your cameras, doorbell, locks and alarm into the same system that runs your lighting, audio and heating, so you check your cameras from the same app, keypads and touchscreens you already use, or from any TV in the house.
Integration is where security gets genuinely useful: see who's at the gate before you open it, let the cleaner in with pre-set access on a Tuesday afternoon, or have the house give the impression it's occupied while you're away.
- View any camera on any TV, touchscreen or smartphone
- Door and gate entry to speak to visitors before you let them in
- Lock the front door from your phone, from anywhere
- Occupancy simulation with lighting and blinds while you're away
- Alerts for motion, flooding, power cuts and extreme temperatures
CCTV & Security, End to End
HD CCTV Cameras
Discreet internal and external cameras with a network video recorder, giving high-definition colour by day, clear infrared vision at night and recording around the clock.
Video Doorbells
See and speak to whoever is at the door from your phone or any touchscreen in the house, whether you're upstairs, at work or on holiday.
Smart Locks & Access
Electronic locks and gate entry with pre-set access codes. Let a visitor or tradesperson in remotely, and lock up again from wherever you are.
Alarm Integration
Motion sensors and alarm systems tied into your smart home, with alerts to your phone, plus warnings for flooding, power cuts and extreme temperatures.
Remote Viewing
Check on your home from anywhere. Watch the drive, the garden or the baby's room from your smartphone, at any time, wherever you happen to be.
Automated Security Scenes
Lights that come on when motion is detected, a single "Goodnight" button that locks up and arms the house, and occupancy simulation while you're away.
Installed Discreetly, Positioned Sensibly, Supported Long-Term
Cameras only earn their keep when they're in the right places, and they shouldn't dominate the look of your home to get there. Our engineers plan camera positions for genuine coverage of the areas that matter, route cabling invisibly, and keep the hardware as discreet as the architecture allows.
We'll also advise on sensible, considerate placement as part of the survey. That includes how recording near boundaries and neighbouring properties is best handled, and where signage is worth considering, so the system protects your home without causing problems with the people next door.
- Site survey to plan coverage of drives, entrances and grounds
- Discreet cameras and concealed cabling, inside and out
- Placement advice that takes neighbours and data protection into account
- Set up, tested and demonstrated before we hand over
- Ongoing support from the same local team that installed it

"Very professional: software updated, system takeover ran perfectly, added more CCTV with no issues. Control4 tweaks all ran well. If you use Control4, these guys are great and they actually know what to do."Mark Russell · System Takeover & CCTV
"I've been using SMC Custom Installs for my Control4 home automation, AV media systems and CCTV setup, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Phil has been absolutely outstanding from start to finish, not just during the initial installation, but over the past 10 years of ongoing maintenance, upgrades and occasional changes."Anson Au Yeung · CCTV & Control4 · Customer for 10 Years
CCTV & Security, Answered Plainly
Can I view my cameras away from home?
Yes. Your cameras are available on your smartphone wherever you have an internet connection, so you can check on the house from work, the school run or holiday. At home, you can also bring any camera up on a TV screen or Control4 touchscreen. We set up remote access securely as part of every installation.
Will CCTV work with my Control4 system?
Yes, that's exactly how we design it. As a Control4 Certified Showroom we integrate cameras, doorbells, locks and alarms into your Control4 system, so everything is controlled from the same app, keypads and remotes as your lighting and audio. If you already have Control4, we can usually add security to it; if not, we can design both together.
Where can cameras legally point?
As a general rule, cameras should cover your own property (drives, entrances, gardens and outbuildings) and avoid pointing into neighbours' private spaces such as their gardens or windows. Where a system records beyond your boundary, signage and sensible handling of the footage become relevant under data protection guidance. We advise on considerate placement at the survey stage; for anything unusual we'd recommend checking the ICO's published guidance, as this isn't legal advice.
Do you install video doorbells and smart locks?
Yes. We install video doorbells, electronic door locks and gate entry systems, and integrate them with your cameras and smart home system, so you can see who's there, speak to them and unlock the door or gate from your phone or any touchscreen in the house.
