Multi-Room Audio & Video,
Installed in Shropshire
We install Control4 multi-room audio and video across Shropshire, Cheshire and the West Midlands — music in any room, from any source, controlled from a keypad, remote or your phone. As audio specialists first (our sister business is a dedicated hi-fi shop), we care about how it sounds, not just that it works. Hear a working system in our Shrewsbury showroom.
You Don’t Need Speakers in Every Room
Multi-room audio is sold as music everywhere, but the honest version is music where you’ll actually listen — usually the kitchen, the main living space and outside. We’d rather design four zones you use every day than ten that look impressive on a plan and gather dust. Good systems also grow: cabling extra zones during a build costs little, so you can start small and add rooms later without ripping anything out. We’ll tell you which rooms earn it, and which can wait.

Plenty of companies can put a speaker in a ceiling. We started as hi-fi people — our sister business, SMC HiFi, is a dedicated hi-fi shop — so when we design a multi-room system we choose speakers, amplification and placement the way an audio shop would, then engineer it into the fabric of your home the way an installer should.
The result is one system that plays your music and TV anywhere in the house: the same song following you from kitchen to garden, or something different in every room. All of it from one app, one keypad or your voice — designed, installed and supported by our own in-house team since 2006.

Music in Every Room
A Control4 multi-room system plays your music however it's stored — streaming services, a hard drive, your phone, even your CD collection — through speakers chosen for each room. Share one playlist with the whole house when you're entertaining, or play something different in every room. Your space, your sounds.
And because we're hi-fi people, discreet doesn't have to mean disappointing. In-ceiling, in-wall and genuinely invisible plaster-over speakers can all sound properly good when they're specified and positioned correctly — or make a statement with floor-standers where the room deserves them.
- Same song everywhere, or different music in each room
- Spotify, streaming services, stored music and CDs — all in one system
- Speakers hidden in ceilings and walls, or invisible behind plaster
- Control from a keypad, touch screen, remote, app or your voice
- Central equipment tucked away — no boxes cluttering your rooms
Multi-Room Audio Visual, Explained
Whole-House Audio
One Control4 system playing music through every room you choose — kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, home office — with volume and source set per room, or the whole house in party mode.
Hidden & Architectural Speakers
In-ceiling and in-wall speakers that all but disappear, plaster-over invisible speakers that literally do, and Artcoustic designs made to suit the room. Chosen for sound first, looks a very close second.
Video Distribution
4K video from a central rack to every TV in the house — Sky, Blu-ray, streaming boxes and CCTV shared across up to ten rooms, with no duplicate hardware under each screen.
Outdoor Audio
Weatherproof garden and patio speakers that join the same system, so the music carries on outside in summer — controlled from the same app as everywhere else.
Streaming Sources
Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, internet radio and your own stored library, integrated properly so the whole household can find their music in seconds — no juggling apps and Bluetooth.
One-App Control
Every room, every source, every screen from a single Control4 app, keypad or remote — and the same system can run your lighting, heating and security too.

Listen First, in Our Shrewsbury Showroom
You wouldn't buy a hi-fi without hearing it, and multi-room audio should be no different. Our Control4 Certified Showroom in Shrewsbury has a working multi-room system running live — walk between zones, switch sources, try the app and hear what properly specified in-ceiling speakers actually sound like.
We're also a Monitor Audio Platinum dealer and an Arcam Centre of Cinematic Excellence, so you can compare speakers at more than one level and hear where the differences really are.
- Working Control4 multi-room audio you can operate yourself
- Monitor Audio Platinum on demonstration
- In-ceiling, in-wall and freestanding speakers to compare
- Video distribution and one-app control shown on the same system
- Private on-site parking and time to listen properly
More Than Music and Movies
Because your multi-room system runs on Control4, it can do more than entertainment. The same app that starts your playlist can dim the lights for film night, check the CCTV, set the heating and lock up when you leave — one system, not a drawer full of remotes.
Start with audio in a few rooms and grow from there, or design the whole house in one go. Either way, everything we add later joins the same system.

"I would recommend SMC Custom Installs unreservedly. They planned and delivered a complete solution for our property including Sonos, Sky, internet and a really fabulous big screen media room. Philip, Ian, Duncan and Pete are all ridiculously knowledgeable, very flexible (to meet changing requirements), professional at all times and just jolly nice people with an enthusiasm for their products and service that is infectious."Karen Ashley · Smart Home Installation
"I was recommended SMC Custom Installs by a neighbour when I was building my new house. My only regret is I didn't engage with Phil and his team earlier. I have had most products available in my house and wouldn't change a thing — CCTV, heating, lighting, TV, audio, blinds, WiFi, electric gate and garage doors…"Simon Schofield · Whole-House Technology, New Build
Multi-Room Audio, Answered Plainly
Can I have different music in different rooms at once?
Yes — that's the point of a proper multi-room system. Each room is its own zone, so one person can have the radio in the kitchen while someone else streams playlists in the bedroom, or you can group every zone together and play the same music through the whole house for a party. Volume is set per room either way.
Do the speakers have to be visible?
No. In-ceiling and in-wall speakers sit flush and can be painted to match, and plaster-over invisible speakers disappear behind the wall surface entirely. Because we're audio people first, we specify and position hidden speakers so they still sound genuinely good — and where you'd rather see a beautiful speaker, we can do that too.
Will it work with Spotify and other streaming services?
Yes. Control4 multi-room systems work with Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, internet radio and more, alongside music stored on a hard drive, your phone or CDs. Everyone in the house can pick their own music from the same app, keypad or by voice.
Can multi-room audio be retrofitted to an existing house?
Usually, yes. Wireless and hybrid systems need very little cabling, and our engineers are experienced at running wiring discreetly through existing homes when a wired system is the better answer. If you're renovating or extending, involving us before plastering makes hidden speakers and tidy cabling much easier — but a finished house is rarely a dealbreaker.
