High definition is here! Never before has the picture quality of large screen TV's and projectors been so real and dynamic.
How can I watch High definition?
Blu ray discs and players offer high definition playback, they look like DVD's but the storage capacity of a Blu ray disc is about six times greater. Players offer great value for money, with great machines from Sony, Panasonic and Denon. High definition TV is also available via SKY (subsciption) or Freesat HD (Free to air). The BBC has been filming in high definition for many years and the BBC HD channel offers a wide range of programs with no monthly subscription. More HD channels are planned to come on-line in 2009 so watch this space!
DVD players and Hard disc drive recorders
DVD players offer excellent picture quality with most machines providing up-scaling for increased performance.
DVD/HDD recorders offer fantastic functionality with the ability to record up to 500GB of video, edit programs and transfer to DVD’s in high speed for archiving your favorite TV programs or sports events.
I-Pod docking stations
The portable MP3 player has become so much more than a pocket device. Dock it in your car, in your hi-fi, even into your cinema or multiroom audio system. Your i-pod can be viewed from the TV screen and music or video content accessed via a hand held remote control. When integrated into a multiroom audio system your i-pod can be docked and accessed throughout your house via keypads.

Music services such as Napster allow you to stream thousands of tracks without the need to purchase a CD! Last FM lets you create your own radio station by creating a play list of music similar to your favorite artist. Internet radio stations provide a unique insight into the vast diversity of multi cultural music and current affairs.
Media servers allow you to store your DVD & CD collection on one device. No need to find a disc and put it in a machine, simply navigate the on screen graphics to play your favorite film.
Although these products are mainly PC based, manufacturers install a GUI(graphic user interface) so browsing content couldn’t be easier. Available in a variety of hard drive sizes from 400GB to 1TB and with the ability to stream Internet radio, media servers offer multiple sources in one convenient package.
